My Social Networks

Welcome to the online portfolio of Dawn Marie Kelley (that's me). Ask me what I am and the immediate answer I will give is storyteller. I like to tell a good story. And while writing was where it all started for me, it is not my sole outlet as a storyteller. I enjoy creating stories in many different ways. Rather it's making the right calls at the right time as a Stage Manager or Directing a story from behind the camera, I enjoy the work of making ideas of the imagination come to life.

So Now I have two paid jobs, one unpaid job, and a sort-of-part time Gig…what?

That’s right, I’m smack dab in the middle of my Videography Internship with Wolf Trap, at the beginning of a new Apprenticeship with Studio Theater (Facilities Management), and I am Writing/Producing the Webseries Fairy Dust in my spare time. On top of that, I’m working for the feature film Z*con when I can. Okay, the last two are unpaid and the first two come with stipends that, hourly, put me way under the minimum wage bar…The Webseries is a passion project of mine and a chance to work with a brilliant illustrator/designer named Kat Brenowitz and Z*con is both for charity and really cool. Hopefully I won’t pass out as I try to keep going on fumes.

Hello from Reston….well Vienna, VA

So first off, I’ve added like nine videos to the video projects page. It’s a mix of cool stuff and it just made me realize how much cool stuff I’ve made or been a part of since I made this grand decission to go back to school in my late 20s. Then I remember only 3 years ago, I couldn’t see a future past working in a Sub Shop. I feel like some things you only see looking back and if you glance backward and say “that’s cool” you’re in a good place.

At the moment I am interning with Wolf Trap Opera in Vienna, VA and living in Reston, VA so that’s put a lot of Self Produced work on the back burner, except for ONE THING.

A collaborative art project known as ‘Fairy Dust the Series’. Which I am co-creating with a great and fab illustrator.

Now I consider ALL video and theater work the result of artist collaboration, but I really want to grow this as a vehicle for artistic collaboration with my friends. It’s bigger, for me, than just another webseries. I want it to inspire art. So there isn’t much there now, but I’ve built a base website for it and will soon be launching a funding campaign for it…however, this will get made, because I’m determine for it to happen. Funding would help, but it doesn’t decide if it will exist or not. Long road ahead….

Just for Fun

I’ve been spending the summer working hard on stop motion and learning AfterEffects. And internship, Yay!!
